My Journey: From Curiosity to Connection
The Threads of a Practice
They say small things eventually become big. Looking back, my path to founding Kind and Curious Yoga wasn't a straight line, but a series of meaningful moments that stayed with me. It began with the simple wonder of a guided relaxation in my youth—the "floating" sensation of a body scan—and grew through an early interest in how touch, reiki, and mindfulness can shift our state of being.
Finding the Mat in the Storm
Yoga truly became my anchor during the challenging years of postnatal depression and, later, the collective weight of the pandemic. What started as "the odd class here and there" transformed into a vital daily ritual. On the mat, I learned the art of Svadhyaya (self-study), discovering how to quiet the "monkey mind" and support my family through heavy times by first supporting myself.
Bridging the Gap: Energy & Elements
My search for a deeper understanding of "how this all works" eventually led me to Energy Medicine Yoga (EMYoga) and the ancient wisdom of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Becoming certified in EMYoga felt like a homecoming. It allowed me to bridge the gap between physical movement and the body's subtle energy systems. By incorporating the Five Element Theory—Earth, Metal, Water, Wood, and Fire—I learned how to align my practice with the body’s innate intelligence. It’s a holistic approach that acknowledges we aren't just muscles and bones; we are a flow of energy that can be balanced and healed if we simply give it the time and space it needs.
Why "Kind and Curious"?
The name is a reflection of who I am and what I believe we all need. During recent years, I realized that Kindness and Curiosity are the two tools that allow us to face life with more joy and vitality. I’m not here to offer trends; I’m here to offer a real, grounded space for you to get to know your own body and mind. Through the lens of Energy Medicine and Hatha yoga, I want to help you connect with yourself and move through the world with more meaning, health, and wellness. 🪷
I invite you to join me on the mat—to listen, to learn, and to heal. 🫴
